This ad is as simple as it gets, however is probably the hardest to analyze since there are only a couple of words on it. Kiss 97.7 made this campaign of "Do you remember" advertisements to send a message to the older crowd that was with them through the start of their business. This ad is subtle, yet makes a huge point. Choosing red as the background color of the ad automatically draws the audience in. Now that the attention is captured the cassette player that is not labeled is placed in the middle as a center point for the audience to look at. The words above “IPod… I’m your father.” A simple well know sentenced revised to fit this advertisement. Then the company label to the far right bottom corner ties all the colors in together and also leaves the viewers with an afterthought.. “DO YOU REMEMBER?’
The designer of this ad had more in mind than just advertising the radio station. The key message of this ad is music is so technologically advanced, that we tend to forget the actually technology that has gotten us to this point. The cassette player, since it is unlabeled is representing every genre of music that available, which then unifies the audience. The saying is showing us how a simple sentence can have such a huge impact on the viewers , knowing that the cassette was the actual “father” of the Ipod shocks the younger generation, since its not something that we think about. I believe that this advertisement show how quickly technology is advancing in this world and how little time we actually have to enjoy it, before a new advancement comes out and changes the way we think. This captures my theory perfectly.
